UL City Centre Campus on Dunne’s Site is a Milestone Development- O’Donnell

Senator Kieran O’Donnell, has welcomed the milestone development announced this afternoon that the University of Limerick has decided to purchase the landmark Dunnes Stores vacant site on Sarsfield Bridge in Limerick City centre and to develop a UL City Centre Campus.

“I am delighted to welcome this milestone development announcement by UL, which brings a landmark Limerick City centre, riverfront site back into productive use under UL.

“This investment in the City by UL strengthens the bonds between the two and will help us grow as a modern University City. As a public representative and UL graduate, this is something I am very keen to take place and I commend all at UL on this fantastic initiative.

“The fact that the UL governing body are looking to bring together Law, Business and Entrepreneurship in Technology in a city centre hub will allow for great synergy between the University, existing enterprises and facilitate the development of new ones.

“This UL City river-front campus will be a very significant addition to the city centre.

“Furthermore, this development further illustrates the ambition of UL to grow its stature amongst the world’s leading academic institutions. It is an ambition that matches that of our City and its people.

“I look forward to working with UL, Limerick City & County Council and all stakeholders to ensure we have the right environment to allow us to continue to drive the development of Limerick City and our region.

“This news really opens up many more exciting opportunities for the future of Limerick city and the UL”.
