O’Donnell Welcomes Approval of Funding of 3 new Special Education Classrooms for St Clement’s College Limerick

Limerick Fine Gael TD Kieran O’Donnell has warmly welcomed the approval of funding from the Department of Education under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme 2021 for 3 Special Education Needs (SEN) Classrooms in St Clement’s College on the South Circular Road in Limerick.

“I am delighted to have received direct confirmation from the Department of Education that they have approved funding for the construction of 3 brand new classrooms for SEN pupils in St Clement’s College on South Circular Road Limerick.

“Having engaged with the Department on behalf of the School to ensure this much needed school project was progressed, I am very pleased to see that funding has now been approved, with the 3 brand new classrooms facilitating 18 SEN pupils once completed.

“The new classrooms are expected to be ready for use in September 2023 following design, planning and construction phases..

“St Clement’s secondary school are currently utilising existing rooms for their SEN students and these 3 new classrooms will be specifically designed and fit-for purpose for Special Education.

“The Department of Education’s Additional School Accommodation scheme ensures that essential classroom accommodation is available to cater for pupils enrolled each year and where the need cannot be met by the school’s existing accommodation.

“This is very welcome news for all at St. Clement’s College, particularly the pupils who will greatly benefit from these newly built classrooms and I commend the school Principal & Staff, board of management and Department of Education for their good work here.

END.
